2007 CLASSES

Walk and Talk: Herb Garden

Many herb varieties were listed in medical textbooks as late as the 1950’s.  Others were prized as survival foods by the Native people and early settlers in this area. Join Planting Fields Horticulturalist, Bill Barash and Ellen Kamhi, The Natural Nurse, for a walking tour of the arboretum grounds.  Identify and visit with a plethora of plants from exotic imported varieties to common 'weeds' and explore their edible, medicinal and folkloric use throughout the ages. Gain a greater depth of understanding and appreciation of beautiful ornamentals, as well as worldly weeds that we pass without noticing on a daily basis!
